It is now just two weeks until two of my colleagues and I set off on our London to Paris ride for Kidney Research UK.
We will be leaving London on Wednesday 27th June, setting off from Crystal Palace at around 07:00 cycling 95 miles to reach Calais for 16:00. This means we have roughly 9hrs to complete the route the first part of the route. When we arrive at Calais, we have another 7 miles to cycle to reach our accommodation.
On day 2, we will be cycling from Calais to Abbeville which is approximately 75 miles. Hopefully, with the reduced mileage and no ferry deadline to hit we will be able to take this quite leisurely!
From Abbeville we will cycle to Beavais, with a distance of 70 miles to cover on Day 3. Finally Day 4 will see us cycle 60 miles to arrive in Paris! We will have an overnight stay in Paris on Saturday 30th June, arriving back in London on Sunday 1st July at 18:00.
I thought this would be a good opportunity to get some decent mileage in my legs, plus it will be a great adventure with friends. The other two ladies who are cycling, are regular cyclists but new to longer rides over multiple days. We have managed a couple of training sessions, including last weekend taking in two longer rides of 50 miles each over two days.
Hopefully I will have internet access to be able to update the blog as we cycle along, but if not, I will have my trusty pen and paper with me to document the ride!
